Asha's Story

In an ultra-conservative East African country, Pioneers Media coached a ministry team in sharing their faith through digital media. Launching their own media ministry, the team’s videos went far and wide, resulting in thousands of people engaging with their content.

Some of the messages the team received were hostile, but many were open and positive, including 18-year-old Asha’s*. 

After giving her life to Jesus and getting baptised, Asha began to boldly share her faith on social media. But when her strict, religious mum saw what Asha was doing, she was horrified enough to report her to the police.

Asha was arrested and imprisoned for 18 months – but this couldn’t stop the chain reaction that followed. Asha had shared Bible stories with her friend, Abdi*, and while she was in prison he began studying the Bible, coming to faith himself.

Abdi then received Pioneers Media coaching and began dedicating hours, each day, responding to people’s messages and questions about Christ and the Christian faith.

Ali*, a new believer whom Abdi had discipled, launched a group with eight others. Seven of these came to faith, with some launching their own groups. And, no doubt, even more have since heard the message and responded. 

The message of hope in Jesus continues to spread.
